The Mighty Big Shoes of Stage 15!
We have no winners of the Team Coco Tweet Contest just yet.
After a long and exhausting search, I've narrowed the over 700 Tweets down to between 30-40 entries. I'm hoping tomorrow to sit down with Sweeney and Conan and pick the cream of the crop. Again, excellent work everybody. There were a TON of great entries. All of you should be proud. It is going to be really, really hard to cut them down any further... But that's what we've gotta do!! Look for an announcement tomorrow in this space!
SHOW UPDATE: I spent most of today at the office, and things are looking great!! The furniture is in, the phones work, more people are around, and the place is starting to buzz a little bit! It's funny; I'm a huge fan of Mad Men, and I can't help but draw parallels between what's happening on that show this season, and what's currently happening with our show getting into a new space and starting up again (very, very general parallels - no one's sleeping with anybody quite yet, ha ha.). The comparison feels apt in certain ways, though - since Conan now owns the show, there's a lot more to do and a lot more to get up and running! However, while it's a lot more work, that also makes things a lot more fun... It truly feels like we're embarking upon this great, grand adventure in ways that I never before imagined. It feels a lot more exciting and edgy; we've moved from a sailboat into a speedboat! And not just any speedboat; One of those speedboats with some flames on the side and a skull on the bow. IT'S THE SS TEAM COCO, PARTY PEOPLE! OOOOH SNAP.
The office is actually looking like a real office now... Although we're missing one vital component:
Computer Guru Chris Hayes is back in full effect... And he brought some friends!
COMPUTERS. Oh man. We've got enough work to do without having to do it all on our laptops; but that's the way things are rolling right now! I trust in my man Hayes; we'll have a network up and running in no time... And soon my office will be ready and I'll have somewhere to spend my days and hang my Care Bears poster up again. Then, I will truly be ready to kick some ass.
Like I mentioned previously, the Warner Brothers lot is like no other. The history is fantastic, and they've got all these cool plaques on each Stage that tells you what was shot there before! Here's the plaque for Stage 15, our current and future home:
Pretty incredible, right? Strangers on a Train?! Blazing Saddles?! Stir Crazy?!? GOONIES!??? GHOSTBUSTERS 1&2?!?? BATMAN FOREV- okay, that one sucked. But you get my point; Stage 15 has some mighty big shoes for us to fill... And you can bet that we're up to the challenge!! That's all for tonight, and this Team Coco Tuesday. As for that awesome plaque, I have a confession to make. I'm actually afraid of how hard you're going to kick my ass after I tell you this, but uh...I've only seen one of those movies. And it wasn't any of the good ones you mentioned. It also wasn't Batman Forever, which apparently is a good thing. I feel like I've failed the ultimate test. =/

Batman Returns and Batman Forever were filmed there. It's only a matter of time before Conan builds a brain wave sucking machine and begins his rule of terror.

um.. The Lost Boys? holy effing ****e! I just totally geeked out. There are so many awesome movies on that list. I had no idea they were filmed on the same lot.
Just curious though... along with the Lost Boys, Batman Forever.. I also see Flatliners there. um, does Joel Schumacher live there in a back shed or something? Will he be directing the show, or literally becoming the new Joel as the creepy old guy upstairs? Will Conan and Andy now be required to have disturbingly embossed nipples on their suits?
The possibilities are truly endless... Unless he doesn't live there. Then all of that would just be weird.

constructed in 1927... you know what that means right? It's haunted!! No one cared about the safety of crew members in the early days of film production. There has to be at least one lonely, pissed off, soul that remains there. Eagerly waiting a new group to come in to torment as you work on new comedy bits late at night ;) Let us know!
Just reading this, you've me all excited too! I'm all ready to board the "SS Team Coco" and sail off on some grand-ass adventures.....but sadly, the ship is still in dry dock. 98 more days until we can take that three hour tour and become stranded on "Conan's Island." More on that later......
The history of stage 15 is truly amazing. Some of my favorite movies were filmed there (Goonies, Mildred Pierce, Blazing Saddles, The Music Man) and my very favorite television show will be shot there. In November. (Do you get what I am talking about?? I'm being coy here.....)
Totally see the Mad Men parallels! An exciting, fresh new start, and everyone's all energized and inspired and good lookin'...Just don't let anyone bring a lawnmower to the office.
I saw a map of your new location online a while ago. Is it true that you're on the same lot as Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls? Cause I'm getting really amusing mental images of drunken men in Zoot suits stumbling through the town square.

That's one fine list of movies that used to be on Stage 15, and a few TV projects. But what is the "Rosie O'Donnel Sho?" What's a "sho?" Will Conan be making a "sho"? If so, Wikipedia says he'll either make a Tibetan board game or a Japanese wind instrument. That's not what TBS expects.
Seriously, I was surprised Rosie was on the list because I thought her talk show was in New York. I guess she used the stage for a Los Angeles visit.
Anyway, get settled and have fun. There's still plenty of time.
It's so cool that the Oceans movies were shot there, when I read that I was like WOOT! :D Also, I love how we get to meet the people that makes everything happen behind the scenes so to speak. More of that! :P

Judging by that awesome list, its almost as if the show was meant to be there...I'd be weary of all the historical photographs. You might just find one of the entire staff of Conan's new show, with a caption "Stage 15, November 1927" ala The Shining. And steer clear of that long hallway at night, too, unless you want to run into the orphans from Annie: "Come play with us, Bley, come play with us forever and ever and ever and ever."
I just thought of something...if Conan is allowed to use the Ghost Who Sings Inapproriate Songs, he'd be an ideal ghost resident for the show. That stage has been the site of a couple of musicals, including Music Man

Pretty cool how Rosie's show was the only "TV show" ever shot on the soundstage. Everything else was a feature of TV movie. There's gotta be miles of material you guys can create from the plaque. I think that "Batman Forever" and "Demolition Man" will be gold...
