"THERE'S NO DEBBIE HERE, MAN!"
For those of you who caught our live show, you know that the show started out with a cold open of what Conan had been doing with his time off after The Tonight Show ended. For those who haven't seen it, check it out right here! (PS - it was edited by the mighty awesome Dan Dome)
Good lord. Seeing this again brings back a flood of memories of hanging out with Conan and Andy and everybody backstage - I mean, we watched this opening EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. While the video played for the audience, backstage we would always take turns playing the slide guitar solo and doing the air drum fills. My favorite thing that would happen during the cold open backstage, however, was when Andy would do the other half of the conversation of the phone call that Conan gets in the beginning of the video. The phone would ring, and Andy would yell out "Yes, hello! Is Debbie there?" And on the screen, Conan would say "No, Debbie's not here", and then Andy would go "Are you sure? Someone told me that this was her number..." and then on the video, Conan would say "THERE'S NO DEBBIE HERE, MAN!" and then Andy would go "WELL YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A DICK ABOUT IT." ... Or other similar variations on that convo. It was always hilarious. Always. Then, when the music sped up later in the video, it was a BACKSTAGE DANCE PARTY. Good times.
Anyway, in the video, Conan makes a certain, uh, "protein shake" filled with Doritos, Crisco, and milk, among other things. Most people thought that the drink was a joke - but I assure you that is it NOT. It's actually a delicious drink that we used to have every day after our morning meeting! It's called the "Red Headed Fluffernutter", and here's how it's made:
*do not really make this drink. It looks absolutely disgusting.
