Andy thinks his "Star Wars" character is fueled by the fear of losing his position of power, particularly at the hands of strong females in the resistance. Sounds familiar.
Transcript CONAN: Snoke in Force Awakens is only seen as a hologram so --
I think we have a still here.
There he is.
Moisturize is all I would say.
[Laughter]
Ah!
But -- so there's a lot of -- obviously "Star Wars" fans lost their minds because they want to know more about Snoke.
Did you like the fact that there's a lot of mystery around Snoke?
Do you think Snoke likes it.
?
ANDY S.: absolutely.
Any great leader likes a lot of mystery -- well, not all leaders.
But some leaders like Snoke, leader of the First Order, that helps him be more powerful and the first order is in a shocking state. As we saw at the end of Force Awakens, its left in a really bad way.
There’s a lot of fear because there's this great feminine energy, this great female force coming at him and he finds that incredibly worrisome.
CONAN: How does he operate, out of fear?
ANDY S.: leaders do operate out of fear.
Where else is there to go?
So leading out of power, trying to make the galaxy great again -- see what I did there?
CONAN: I see what you did there. It was nicely done.
ANDY S.: Low hanging fruit, I'm sorry.
CONAN: That's fine.
It went very well.
A lot of people were wondering, a lot of fans, Snoke is so powerful and old and existed for such a long time, why was he not in the original orange trilogy?
ANDY S.: the fact is back then -- this is the thing about "Star Wars."
The merchandise turns up before the movie and Snoke wears this gold llama robe, which was -- so my theory, my Snoke theory, and there are many out there, is that in younger days he was a sort of Hugh Hefner are-like figure.
So during the first three movies-
CONAN: It was during the 70's.
ANDY S.: it was during the late 1970's.
He was having a rocking good time and then things went wrong.
CONAN: Skin dried out, he got angry.
